With major city centre offices in London and Edinburgh, Dickson Minto continues to expand. We seek to retain our trainees and most who train with us stay with us.
As part of your traineeship you will spend a minimum of six months in our London office gaining real ‘City’ training. Not only will this provide you with indispensable experience in the practice of corporate law, it will also open the door to possible future career moves.
We are totally committed to developing our people and you will be fully involved in the work of the firm from day one so do not expect a slow start. Effective teamwork is essential to ensure we deliver the best service to our clients and you will be an integral part of the DM team very quickly.
On arrival each trainee is allocated to a senior assistant or partner. After six months you will join another team working on a different area of business or with different clients. We have a broad variety of ‘seats’ available for our trainees.
Each trainee will undertake four seats, each of six months’ duration. We cannot guarantee the allocations of seats but we do consult closely on this and try to accommodate desires for particular seats wherever possible. You will receive continual feedback on your performance as you progress while more extended appraisals of your performance will also be undertaken on a six-monthly cycle.
We are not in the business of training people for other law firms. Of the last 11 partners assumed, no less than eight joined the firm as trainees.
